The number of superminis out on the market at the moment makes the task of selecting it that much more difficult so I thought I would compile a list to make the decision that much easier and give a rundown of what I feel are the best superminis on the market at this moment in time.
The Used Seat Mii is one of a trio of city cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, including the Used Skoda Citigo and the Volkswagen up! All the three cars are mechanically the same but offer different identities. The Mii is the sporty and the stylish one of the three. The design is similar to that of the Ibiza and Leon. The mii has excellent build quality as you can imagine from the Volkswagen brand and comes in a spacious interior and is very fun to drive. The Mii doesn’t have the lowest of running costs as you may expect and also doesn’t come with much equipment and the interior looks quite cheap.
The Renault Twingo is the next supermini I considered and rivals the Hyundai I20. The Twingo is one of the best in its class when it comes to CO2 emissions and fuel economy and is well equipped and even looks more expensive compared to the basic models of its rivals, mainly being because the Twingo is restricted to one trim level so there’s no basic model. The Twingo doesn’t come in a five-door model not that you would particularly look for a supermini with five-doors and the quality is still quite patchy.
Next up comes the Second Hand Suzuki Splash and like the Second Hand Vauxhall Agila uses a high rood to create extra space and practicality, The Splash maximises space and efficiency, while still keeping its supermini looks. The Splash has smart styling along with cheap running costs making it a real contender when looking to buy a supermini. The splash does however have limited boot space compared to some of its rivals and it also relatively slow on the motorway.
Another Suzuki has made my list in the form of the Alto. The Second Hand Suzuki Alto is a small and efficient car and is cheap to buy and cheap to run but as a consequence the quality of is poor as a result. The alto made the list mainly cause of its cheap qualities and its ease to drive. The Alto is however let down by its small boot, cramped interior and poor quality plastics which makes it look as cheap as it costs.
